Telemedicine in Nanclares Prison

A new telemedicine program with dermatology and traumatology consults between Nanclares Prison and Txagorritxu Hospital by videoconference, begin in the Prison of Nanclares de Oca. In prison there is a medical team 24 hours, they do 18.000 medical consults and 8.300 nursery operations per year, only there are 1.198 specialist consults in Hospital. With this new telemedicine program they want to delete these 1.198 visits to Specialist in Hospital.

Very similar telemedicine program work in Extremadura since 2007 between Badajoz Prison and Caceres Prison with their respectives reference hospitals in Badajoz or Caceres, this program began thanks to one contract signed by Instituciones Penitenciarias and Servicio Extremeño de Salud.

"Telemedicine in Extremadura" in Canal Extremadura TV

Impacto de la telemedicina en la calidad de vida de las zonas rurales

A continuación os dejamos el enlace de un trabajo realizado en colaboración por Olga Ferrer-Roca de la Universidad de la Laguna y Ana García Nogales junto con Claudio Pelaez del Complejo Hospitalario Infanta Cristina de Badajoz, acerca del modelo de atención especializada realizado en Extremadura mediante la aplicación de la telemedicina y como este método está impactando en la calidad de vida de las zonas rurales.

Este trabajo nos hace ver la importancia que la telemedicina tiene a la hora de mejorar la calidad asistencial en zonas rurales, y por lo tanto la calidad de vida de todos aquellos pacientes.
