A team of Spanish doctors of Clinica la Luz in Madrid, has been pioneers in the treatment of obesity. The procedure is to install in the patient's stomach a sensor that simulates a feeling of fullness. The technique, known as "Ability" is a revolutionary system that can reduce the amount of food eaten and addresses the treatment of obesity from an innovative perspective.
The device is implanted by laparoscopic surgery through small holes in the wall abdominal.This procedure is indicated for people with a body mass index (BMI) between 35 and 55. Patients who implanted the device may lose between 35% and 40% of excess weight in the first year.
